The New Riverside Ramblers band plays high-energy Cajun dance music – the music you would hear pumping out of a South Louisiana dance hall on a Saturday night. The button accordion, fiddles, pedal steel guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums coupled with passionate vocals belted out in Cajun French all give the music its infectious and powerful groove.
The Ramblers’ repertoire covers the spectrum from lively two-steps, soulful waltzes, old-style fiddle tunes, gritty blues to rockin’ honky-tonk cuts – all inspired by the rollicking sounds of the hopping dance halls of Louisiana. The band twice won the Cajun French Music Association’s award for the best Cajun recording released outside Louisiana. They took first place at the Americana/Roots Band Contest at the 2016 Minnesota State Fair. They can be heard regularly on radio stations in South Louisiana’s Cajun country, and at dances, barrooms, and festivals in and around their home base in the Twin Cities.
